Artist of the moment

Terence Trent D'arby icon

Now, everyone heard of this guy when he hit the scene in the 80s with "Wishing Well," but it takes a second listen to really understand how talented he is.

I was re-introduced to him by the amazing Raymond Fiore back about 2000, when I had just returned stateside from scandalizing Europe.  In any case, Terence Trent D'arby, nee Darby, now called Sananda, is as versatile as he is weird.

People compare him to Prince, but his voice is much closer to Michael Jackson, though with some raspy Al Green trolling the depths.

The single best album is Symphony or Damn--which thrills, soothes, and energizes at turns.  But I must make a strong bid for his latest, Wildcard!, which shows characteristic depth, but is a more cohesive and listenable album.

Check 'em all out, except Neither Fish Nor Flesh, which TTD believed to be better than Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.  It was not.  But it was clearly made by someone who believed it was.

Okay.  Start spinnin'.

Keep an eye out for product recs in addition to music recs on this page. To begin, look at my speakers
icon

I love these things. I hauled them from New England to Chicago b/c I knew that if I sold them, I would just buy the same set once I hit the ground in the Chi.

I'm sure that better speakers are made in the world, and there are certainly some that are less conspicuous, but I have not seen any I like half as well for anything near the same price. Just a suggestion, if you're looking.
